AAV Packaged on Request: Scope of Service

Addgene's Packaged on Request Service is subject to Addgene’s Terms of Purchase and the applicable material transfer agreements (MTAs) and limited use label licenses (LULLs).

Titer

For AAV preps produced through our Packaged on Request service, Addgene guarantees a titer of at least 4 x 10¹² GC/mL for the AAV1, AAV5, AAV8, or AAV Retrograde serotypes and 2 x 10¹² GC/mL for the AAV2 serotype, as titered by droplet digital PCR (ddPCR).

In some cases, we may expect lower titers for a particular AAV prep, mostly likely due to one of the following reasons:

• Transfer plasmids with sequence from the 5′ to the 3′ ITR exceeding 4.7 kb
• Transfer plasmids with a cargo that may reduce titer due to toxicity or other reasons

For these cases, Addgene will promptly notify you by email within a few business days of your request to let you know that we don’t expect to produce our guaranteed titer, and will give you the option to proceed with your order, or not, without a guaranteed titer. Any titer expectations communicated by email will supersede the general guarantees above.

We will have our expert viral vector production team carefully review your cargo/serotype selection after you submit your request, so we can set expectations to the best of our knowledge from the start. However, we know there’s a chance that things may not turn out as expected. In the unlikely event that our viral production does not yield the titer guaranteed here or by email, Addgene will contact you to offer some options for moving forward with a helpful solution. You must reply to that email within 10 business days in order to proceed with any adjustments to the original order.

Turnaround Time

Production of a Packaged on Request material is generally ready for shipment within 8 weeks after the approval of the MTA by your institution. Our final step of the QC process, viral genome sequence verification, may not yet have been completed at the time of shipment. If any discrepancies are identified during this analysis, you will be notified by email.

If Addgene determines that our current queue is too high and we do not expect to meet the general turnaround time, Addgene will notify you by email before, or within 10 business days of ordering. We will give you the option to proceed with your order, or not, with a longer turnaround time. Any timing expectations communicated by email will supersede the general estimated turnaround time above.

After starting viral production, if we determine that we will not meet the turnaround time we described here or by email, Addgene will contact you to offer some options for moving forward with a helpful solution. You must reply to this email within 10 business days in order to proceed with any adjustments to the original order.

Experimental Disclaimer

Due to the novel nature of experiments carried out with our materials, Addgene cannot guarantee the function of any viral vector. Addgene performs QC measures which verify the identity of the viral vector, but not the function. Upon request, within three years of the order being shipped, Addgene can provide the QC validation data performed on the material received.

Shipping

While Addgene assists importation by including thorough shipping documents and following import procedure, it is the responsibility of the importer to pay for any additional customs fees or taxes, and to complete any additional customs documentation that might be required by your country for the import of biological research materials. Please be aware that additional customs charges may be required before your order will be delivered. The courier will contact you directly regarding these charges, if applicable.
