Addgene Pleased to See Partner Company LabLife Find a New Home
Cambridge, MA - Addgene has been among the supporters of LabLife, an independent company which provides lab management software to the research community. LabLife has grown to over 20,000 users from around the world tracking over 500,000 research materials within their labs.
LabLife was recently acquired by Biodata, a lab management software company funded by Digital Science (view full press release). LabLife has always been a free service, but the long-term ability of an organization to provide updated software depends on revenue. The acquisition by Biodata provides the foundation for growth and the Biodata team is committed to the LabLife user base, pledging at least two years of continued free service.
Addgene’s nonprofit mission of scientific sharing remains strong. Addgene continues to focus on building a comprehensive plasmid repository and promoting scientific exchange. The plasmid sharing service has expanded, with Addgene now representing over 1,000 depositing labs and making record numbers of plasmid distributions.
The Addgene team is proud to have participated in bringing the LabLife service to scientists, and we wish LabLife well in its new partnership.
