University of Georgia
The following description was provided by the University of Georgia:
When the University of Georgia (UGA) was incorporated by an act of the General Assembly on January 27, 1785, Georgia became the birthplace of public education in the US. In 1784 the General Assembly had set aside 40,000 acres of land to endow a college or seminary of learning, which evolved into today’s leading institution devoted to research, education, service, and extension. UGA has a long history in the development of research reagents; the Bradford Assay was invented here, as well as the use of Renilla luciferase and Aequorin luciferase as reagents – to name a few.
