Depositor Comments

When p14FAST is expressed in mammalian cells, fusion takes place between expressing cells and any other neighbouring cells that are in contact (even with non-expressing cells of a different cell type). Potential users should note that this implies a risk that cells carrying the fusion gene might fuse with cells of living humans, and potentially carry dangerous genetic material such as oncogenes and viruses into them (even basic cells lines carry mutations making them proliferative and immortal). Appropriate precautions should therefore be taken when handling the cultures.
